When Streams Run Dry: P8 in Drought

Never before filmed passages beyond the air-filled section of this popular Derbyshire cave.

For a short period in 1994 a severe and prolonged draught opened up normally flooded passage, giving cavers a rare chance to visit a series of interesting and varied phreatic passage normally only accessible to divers.

Andy Morrison, a local cave diver, leads a small group of dry-clothed cavers through P8 stream cave and the dried out sumps upstream and downstream as far as Sump 4. Some superbly scalloped passages and tall chambers are featured.
